This is a mock up version of my double page spread. I have inserted collumns in Indesign, inserted images and learnt how to wrap my text and oputline around text like I have dont for my main headline. This is potentially what my article could look like I am expiriementing trying to find a layout that I like and think fits the style of my magazine. Saturday, 12 February 2011

11/11/2010 Front lighting
Today we took pictures of our partners that had no un needed objects surrounding. You can caputure emotion in your images easily by avoiding all unnessacery surrounding objects and focusing on the main object to capute their emotion I like this image as it is taken from a height and you can see that my models facial expression is highlighting the emotion of hapiness. This image is expanded and taken from a distance to create an effect of lonelyness.
In this second photo you are up close and get a medium long shot of my model sat on stairs looking up at the camera showing that they are fragile and almost looking up for help. Camera angles can be great to use to determine how emotions are being put across in an image. Using levels creates a different feel to an image. The lighting on both images is rather bad but it can easily be altered on photoshop. by increasing the lighting and decreasing the shaddows. By takijng these photos it has shown me that I must pay more attention to the settings of my camera and that the amount of light I let into a lense is important to how bright my image will be. By doing this it will help me to portray my models emotions easier.

Media practical 2
The shutter speed is a measurement of how long the camera is allowing light to enter it to make a picture.
Shutter speeds are measured in fractions of a second. So a shutter speed of 60 is really one-sixtieth of a second; a shutter speed of 500 is really one-fivehundreth of a second. Therefore the higher the shutter speed, the faster the camera is opening and closing the shutter.
Faster shutter speeds stop action.
Take a photo of a race car traveling at 200mph. With a shutter speed of 60, you'll see a blur, but not much of a car. With a shutter speed of 500, you'll get a sharper photo of the car. With a shutter speed of 1000, you'll get a car that is clear and frozen in time.
Increasing the shutter speed decreases the amount of light entering the camera. To compensate, either you or the camera has to let more light in, which means either opening the camera's aperture (the opening behind the lens), or increasing the camera's sensitivity to light
Here is an example of using a shutter speed of 6 seconds. This therefore means it takes six seconds for the shutter speed to take in light.
I created an Image of the first letter of my name I would have done the whole of my first name but that would of been very time consuming.
The problem is I think I need to retake this image at a slower shutter speed and be more accurate when I read what shutter speed I have used. Also I think next time I will take more time when shooting to get a more accurate picture as well as trying to keep my subject still maybe I could use a tri pod to keep the camera still as well as getting closer to the subject for a clearer imageFurthermore for next time I will need to work on skills such as the shutter speed, ISO settings and automatic/ manual focus.
Media Practical 1

This image was taken with a DSLR camera.
We were expirimenting with fast shutter speeds this is the reason for it being so dark is due to using a fast shutter speed on the camera, I jumped of a bench and threw the leaves into the air that is the reason for the photo being rather blurred. The faster the shutter speed setting is , the stiller anything moving is, therefore allowing less light to enter the camera lense.

I decided to expiriment with the exposure of the photo on photoshop. I found it to enhance the lighting a lot more and revealed hidden aspects in the background of the photo that were not initially seen due to the dark lighting.I think I need to develop my photoshop skills a lot more in order for me to be able to sucsessfully create a decent quality image. This will help me in Unit 3 when I expiriment further with shutter speeds.
Levels and curve tutorial
Here I took an image with a DSLR camera, I think this image is too dark though and does not have enough emphasis on the background detail therefore I want to make my image a bit brighter so it shows of the background scenery. This image is dark because there was a fast shutter speed used on the camera, which did not allow enough light to enter the lense, also the background is blurred because I was moving at the time. I
decided to change the levels on my image to make it lighter so I moved the arrows that represent the RGB and made it a lot more lighter, this is good because it shows off all of the autumn colours from the trees.
Next I decided to use the curve presents to make my image even more lighter.
I found using curve was easier than using levels as it easier to control what you are doing and how to determine how much light you want.
